We woke up late, exchanged presents and then got ready to go for lunch. We took the train in although it was very quiet, the trains still ran exactly on time and very regularly. How German!
We ate at the beautiful Spatenhaus in Munch close to the Residence and it was absolutely amazing. No barbecues here - the food was absolutely delicious, even if it wasn't quite what I'm used to for Christmas Day.
I had a dish that was similar to macaroni and cheese, schnitzel, and then we shared apple fritters for dessert. We also shared a bottle of wine on the table - Michael and Rachel felt very rebellious!
After lunch, we headed to the house of the friend of a friend for afternoon tea. Judy was so kind to open our home to us, and we left absolutely stuffed to the brim with German biscuits and chocolates.
