A day in York

The next day dawned bright and clear and so we decided to walk into York. We were staying so close to the town and so it was lovely that we didn't have to worry about public transport. After looking around the shops, we went to have a look at the Minster and climbed to the top to look over York. Now, a word of warning - I would consider myself reasonably fit and healthy (reasonably), however I died a little making it to the top (275 stairs!) but it was so worth it.

As we left the Minster there was a man playing the piano outside to "Let it Go" from Frozen, and so of course we all joined in for a singalong. We continued walking through York and doing a little bit of shopping until the early afternoon, when we went to "The Chocolate Story". It's an informative tour about how chocolate was made in York (the home of the Chocolate Orange by Terry's), Cadbury's and Rowntree. I loved the tour because it was very interactive - we could make our own chocolates, watch movies, try chocolate, and so on. The chocolates that they had us trying were absolutely amazing - some kind of strawberry and cream flavour that wasn't overly sweet.

After wandering home, we had Chinese takeaway and ate our chocolate lollies (lollipops?). If the afternoon was a reward for our work climbing in the morning, it was well worth it.
