Chatsworth House is where they filmed the film version of Pride and Prejudice - it's about 74 miles from York (although we got lost and it took a bit longer) and while it's not usually opened around Christmas, this year it was so we decided to pay it a visit.
The grounds were absolutely beautiful, as was the inside of the castle, however they had unfortunately decided to do an "Alice in Wonderland" theme throughout to encourage parents to take their children along so that took away quite a bit from the beauty. It was interesting none the less, especially when we discovered that Penrhos College in Wales had set up there during the Second World War to use it as a school when their grounds were taken over as a training area.
We hadn't expected snow however it was absolutely stunning and so wonderful to see. We weren't dressed appropriately at all, but that didn't stop us from attempting to build a snowman (Michael) and gallivanting around the grounds (everyone else).
A short post, but I hope you enjoyed the photographs!
